Job Summary
CenterPoint Energyis looking for a Corrosion Specialist IIIlocated in Baytown, TX.


You will have the ability to: evaluate, analyze, and recommend corrosion control materials, techniques, instrumentation, and new technologies to provide effective corrosion control programs that ensure compliance with codes. Review industry best practices and recommend applications for T&D assets. Provide technical troubleshooting and support for underground piping assets when needed. Develop and conduct internal and external employee training. Establish and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by meeting customer needs and pursuing continuous improvement.

Essential Functions


  • Provides technical support to resolve corrosion issues.
  • Recommends control activities related to systems, inspection, and maintenance to mitigate adverse effects of corrosion on natural gas assets.
  • Partners with more senior level staff on complex designs and engineer simple designs for cathodic protection systems.
  • Responsible for assisting with the procedural aspects of cathodic protection. The position troubleshoots cathodic structures when needed to provide remediation of issues.
  • Manages and monitors systems to assure compliance with federal and state regulations as it relates to pipelines.
  • Performs analysis on simple to moderately complex cathodic protection projects. This position supports the design, engineering, and construction management of cathodic protection projects.
  • Communicates the project needs for the specified cathodic project to internal and external customers to assure that the project's scope and plan of construction are well defined.
  • Supports the project budgetary constraints and assures installation is compliant with Centerpoint Energy O&M and construction practices.
  • Collaborates with the Corrosion Operations Supervisor and the Corrosion Operations Manager to assure project completion and captures the final records for the completed corrosion projects.


Education Description


  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Requires NACE CP Tester (CP2) or equivalent.


Experience


  • Requires two (2) years of utility industry or relevant industry experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).


A bonus to have


  • Gas or utility environment experience.
  • Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS), enterprise asset management systems, or similar applications.
