Quality Engineer - Aerospace & Defense Industry
Location: Rochester, NY (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (2 Months)
Schedule: 4/10 Workweek
Pay Rate: $37.00 - $46.00 per hour

Acara Solutions is seeking highly qualified Quality Engineer candidates to work onsite with our client in Rochester, NY.
Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and document quality discrepancies related to assembly, mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Implement and maintain inspection, testing, and evaluation standards, methods, and procedures to ensure product precision, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Lead internal quality audits within manufacturing and production environments to ensure compliance with internal policies, customer requirements, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with auditors, inspectors, and process owners to develop formal reports and recommend effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor quality trends and metrics, providing data-driven insights to enhance business processes and reduce recurring issues.
  • Supervise and support testing department operations and inspection teams.
  • Review and approve work order flow tags, ensuring documentation accuracy and traceability.
  • Develop and refine inspection techniques, tools, and supplemental instructions to strengthen quality assurance methods.
  • Participate in supplier corrective and preventive action activities, including handling customer escapes, nonconformities, and change control processes.
  • Serve as a liaison in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings to resolve nonconforming materials and process issues.
  • Communicate effectively across departments to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures.
  • Work under moderate supervision, setting objectives for own job area and contributing to overall departmental performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience in mechanical, electrical, or electro-mechanical assembly within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, standards, and methodologies (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
  • Strong skills in root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions, and process improvement.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Experience with MRB, supplier quality, and internal auditing preferred.

Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial or Systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering or Materials Science Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical assembly
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Electrical, ASQ certification
  • Knowledge or experience with the Microsoft Tool Suite
  • Experience in the development of manufacturing work instructions
  • Knowledge or experience with ISO9001/AS9100
  • Knowledge or experience with Agile Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or a similar PLM tool
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and presentation skills
  • Teamwork

  • Ability to work independently
