Job Summary

Leads preliminary design activities, including scope development, design coordination, consultant management, regulatory submissions, and quality control for moderate to complex projects. Collaborates with Project Managers to coordinate budgeting and scheduling phases of projects. Projects may include building renovations, feasibility studies, site developments, infrastructure equipment replacement, and/or new construction projects. Performs engineering design review for Corewell Health construction projects as required.

Essential Functions
  • Oversees and manages professional design consultant services, including directing, coordinating, reviewing, and approving all deliverables. This includes the review of plan/program documents, designs, and construction bid documents such as drawings, specifications, and estimates and project budgets.

  • Ensures system specifications are current and aligned with organizational goals.

  • Serves as a liaison to design firms and contractors, providing guidance on electrical design, code compliance, system specifications, and industry best practices.

  • Reviews and approves studies and design/construction documents prepared by consultant design firms and specialty consultants.

  • Maintains and updates hospital electrical drawings using AutoCAD, ensuring proper organization within filing systems and catalogs.

  • Serves as Project Manager for electrical equipment replacement projects.

  • Provides engineering consultation to departments and staff regarding planning, design, and construction of renovations and additions. Assesses feasibility of proposed construction and renovation projects.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • 5 years of relevant experience electrical design engineering or related field

  • LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan

  • CRT-Auto Insurance

Preferred

  • Electrical design experience in health care environment

  • LIC-Professional Engineer - STATE_MI State of Michigan
