Job Summary

This accountant position is responsible for providing temporary support to the accounting team. This includes reviewing and reconciling all balance sheet accounts and clearing accounts assigned, and creating and entering appropriate adjusting entries to record or true-up account the balances as needed. Must have clear understanding of U.S. GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles).

As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these include, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), staying focused on the assigned tasks, and completing other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Review and reconcile all balance sheet account assigned
  • Review and reconcile clearing accounts assigned
  • Review financial statements, transaction data, and accounting procedures for accuracy and completeness
  • Identify entry errors, create journal entries to clear balances, and to true up accounts, ensuring financial records adhere to accounting U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and other regulatory requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • 6+ years' experience conducting balance sheet reconciliation, financial statement preparation, and preparing adjusting entries.
  • 6+ years' proficiency in accounting software.
  • Proven knowledge of U.S. GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
  • Master's degree in accounting
  • Experience with financial statement audits
  • Experience in the government contracting industry
