Title: Engineer Technician - Mechanical

Location: Independence, MO

Salary: $ 66,000- $84,000
Schedule: 4 - 10 hour shifts, weekdays with overtime as needed

Focus: The Engineering Technician - Mechanical supports precision measurement, calibration, inspection, and engineering functions to ensure product quality and compliance. This role involves blueprint interpretation, root cause analysis, gauge calibration, and technical collaboration with engineering, production, and suppliers in a lab environment.

Engineer Technician - Mechanical Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform precision measurement, calibration, and inspection using GD&T, blueprints, and hand tools.

  • Conduct root cause/corrective action analysis, first article testing (FAAT), and reverse engineering.

  • Support gauge calibration, design/review of product gauging, and tooling/spare parts inspection.

  • Assist engineers on new product introduction projects by gathering and analyzing technical data.

  • Write/update procedures and collaborate with engineering, production, and suppliers to resolve issues.

Engineer Technician - Mechanical Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 5 years of recent mechanical experience.

  • Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T (tolerances, true position, runout, profile).

  • Skilled with precision hand measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, depth mics).

  • Strong math skills, including fractions, decimals, and metric/standard conversions.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; strong communication skills.

  • Mechanically inclined, self-starter, and able to work independently or with cross-functional teams.

Engineer Technician - Mechanical Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with CMM programming and MAHR programming.

  • Knowledge of JENOPTIK/Hummel programming systems.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD for drafting and design support.

Location-Specific Requirements:

  • Must have a valid US Driver's License.

  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls if required.

  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

  • This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies.
