Transportation Engineering Technician II

The State Highway Administration's (SHA) District 7 is currently recruiting for a Transportation Engineering Technician II, Construction Inspector, position. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies within SHA.
Nature of Work: This is an experienced level of technical engineering work wherein incumbents perform a variety of inspection and engineering support tasks. Work is performed under the supervision of an engineer or a higher-level technician. Employees in this classification are not required to supervise other employees.

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One (1) year of experience in technical engineering related work in the areas of design, traffic, construction, materials testing, engineering surveys, maintenance, or planning.
Selective Qualification: Must have one (1) year of construction, maintenance, or utility inspection experience.
Notes:
1. Applicants may substitute education in a civil engineering curriculum at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for the year of the required experience.
2. Applicants who possess an associate degree in engineering, construction management or surveying or surveying technology from an accredited community college, college or university are considered to have met the experience requirement.
