Summary:
The Executive Director, Key Accounts will lead a high-performing team of Key Account Directors responsible for driving EXPAREL's strategic engagement, formulary access, contracting and utilization across major hospital systems and integrated delivery networks (IDNs). This role is accountable for developing and executing account strategies, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring consistent performance across the team to meet commercial objectives.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Development:
    Recruit, coach, and manage a team of Key Account Directors, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence. Provide ongoing mentorship and performance feedback to support professional growth and business impact.
  • Strategic Planning & Execution:
    Develop and oversee account strategies for EXPAREL within targeted hospital systems and IDNs. Align team objectives with broader commercial goals and ensure consistent execution of account plans.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    Serve as a senior point of contact for executive-level stakeholders within key accounts. Support KADs in navigating complex relationships and elevating Pacira's value proposition at the system level.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Partner with Sales, Market Access, Medical Affairs, HEOR, and Marketing to ensure alignment and integration of strategies across functions. Champion cross-functional initiatives that enhance customer engagement and product adoption.
  • Performance Management:
    Establish clear KPIs and metrics for the team. Monitor performance, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
  • Market Intelligence & Innovation:
    Stay abreast of healthcare trends, policy shifts, and competitive dynamics. Translate insights into actionable strategies that position EXPAREL for sustained growth and relevance.
  • Compliance & Governance:
    Ensure all team activities are conducted in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Pacira's internal policies.
  • Field Engagement:
    Support and lead team through joint customer visits, strategic planning sessions, and in-person coaching. Travel estimated at 50-60%.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MHA, PharmD) preferred.
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in Life Science industry (hospital, pharmaceutical/biotech), with 5+ years in leadership roles managing key accounts or field-based teams.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of hospital systems, IDN dynamics, and formular access strategies.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong presentation skills; proven ability to interact successfully with all levels of the organization as well as vendors and outside constituents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and knowledge of reference and bibliographic software and creation of reference databases are essential.
  • Ability to successfully work cross-functionally.

Travel Requirements

50-60% travel is required.

Pay Transparency

The base pay range for this role is $229,000 per year to $300,000 per year. The range is what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. The range considers a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: geographic markets, business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience, training, licensure, and certifications.
