$92,206.40 - $191,505.60 Position Summary:

The Associate Director of Data & Analytics will provide strategic leadership for the enterprise's data transformation journey, ensuring that analytics initiatives directly influence clinical, financial, and operational outcomes. This role will be responsible for setting the organizational direction for data strategy, overseeing cross-functional teams, and driving cultural adoption of data-driven decision-making. Unlike purely technical or architecture-focused positions, this role partners with executive leadership to ensure analytics programs deliver measurable business impact and align with organizational priorities in oncology and healthcare delivery. The Associate Director must also be able to technically advance the organization, both directly and through leading their teams.

This role will work in close partnership with the Director of Business Intelligence (BI) to ensure that enterprise data platforms, governance, and advanced analytics strategies seamlessly support the delivery of high-quality BI solutions.

Key Performance Areas:

KPA -1 : Strategic Leadership & Data Vision

  • Define and own the enterprise-wide data, analytics, and machine learning strategy in alignment with C-suite priorities.

  • Drive cultural change across the organization to increase adoption of advanced analytics and self-service BI.

  • Develop and oversee long-term roadmaps for cloud data platforms, predictive analytics, and reporting modernization.

KPA 2 - Organizational Influence & Executive Engagement

  • Serve as the primary liaison between business leaders, clinical stakeholders, and technical teams.

  • Partner with executives to ensure data initiatives directly support KPIs in oncology care, financial stewardship, and operational performance.

  • Provide thought leadership in healthcare analytics, shaping the organization's role in advancing oncology insights.

KPA 3 - Collaboration with BI Leadership

  • Partner closely with the Director of BI to align enterprise data strategy with BI delivery.

  • Ensure data platforms, pipelines, and governance structures provide a strong foundation for reporting, dashboards, and insights.

  • Jointly establish enterprise standards for data access, visualization, and usage.

  • Work side-by-side to ensure business leaders receive both reliable BI solutions and forward-looking analytics innovation.

KPA 4 - Team & Program Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of data engineers, BI developers, ML specialists, and governance analysts.

  • Oversee resource planning, budget allocation, and vendor/partner relationships for enterprise analytics programs.

  • Build organizational capability through training, coaching, and establishing best practices in analytics delivery.

  • Demonstrate ability to provide technical depth and problem-solving support to the team, stepping in as a hands-on leader when complex technical challenges arise.

KPA - 5 Governance, Compliance & Quality

  • Establish enterprise-level data governance frameworks to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, PHI).

  • Implement standardized data quality processes, monitoring protocols, and audit mechanisms to reduce defects and ensure trust in analytics outputs.

  • Ensure clinical and financial reporting systems meet compliance and accreditation standards.

KPA 6 - Cloud Modernization & Advanced Analytics

  • Provide strategic oversight (and hands-on technical guidance when required) of cloud migration projects across Azure, Snowflake, and Databricks platforms.

  • Ensure platforms are optimized for scalability, cost efficiency, and advanced analytics enablement.

  • Guide adoption of machine learning and AI-driven insights for oncology care and healthcare operations.

Education

  • Master's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field preferred.

Minimum Relevant Experience

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in analytics, BI, or data engineering, with at least 5 years in leadership.

  • Demonstrated success in leading enterprise data transformations, governance programs, and BI adoption initiatives.

  • Deep expertise in healthcare/oncology data systems and regulatory environments.

  • Strong record of stakeholder engagement and executive-level influence.

  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with technical proficiency - capable of advancing solutions directly and through teams.

Technical & Platform Knowledge (Strategic Oversight + Hands-on as Needed):

  • Cloud Platforms: Azure, Snowflake, Databricks

  • BI Tools: Tableau, Power BI, Cognos (strategic alignment with BI Director, not tactical report creation)

  • Programming & Data Engineering: SQL, Python (oversight with capacity to contribute when necessary)

  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR data structures and healthcare interoperability standards

Certifications/Licenses

  • Preferred:

  • Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate

  • AWS Cloud Practitioner

  • Tableau Desktop Specialist
