Overview

Responsibilities

A week in the life of a Linux System Engineer includes:

  • Design, install, implement, and configure systems in a virtual environment, as well as provide ongoing support of the Windows/Linux Infrastructure
  • Create and maintain virtual machines using tools such as VMware vSphere
  • Evaluate, improve, and maintain information security
  • Troubleshoot issues identified by our customers
  • Monitor and correct critical server issues
  • Create recovery processes for system failures and performance bottlenecks
  • Manage and monitor systems and infrastructure
  • Develop process documents (SOPs) for use by fellow team members


Qualifications

Job Requirements
* U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance
* Security+ or equivalent IAT 2 or higher certification.
* Minimum eight (8) years of technical discipline experience with SDLC and managing virtual environments, including six (6) years hands-on working with RHEL
* Ability to provision/configure/support required software and services onto servers
* Skilled in Ansible Automation Platform, with hands-on experience in executing playbooks and managing job templates for maintenance tasks.
* Ability to organize smaller tasks to solve larger issues problems.
* Ability to lead/mentor people and projects to completion.
* Tier 2 RHEL support experience
* Experience with CM tools and baseline management
* Experience with DISA STIGs
* Experience with IAVM system
* Experience with Red Hat patching process (YUM updates) and coordination of patching efforts
* Experience with monitoring tools and system diagnostics
* Experience with Account management and group policy using MS Active Directory
* Ability to prioritize and manage tasks to accomplish goals on a given timeline
* Experience managing and mitigating system security risks
* Ability to provide general technical support for both hardware and software

Preferred Qualifications in addition to the Job Requirements:

* Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Jira Service Desk and Confluence)
* Ability to review and modify ansible playbooks and managing job templates for operational tasks
* Familiarity with container technology (docker or podmon) or the ability to learn
* Familiarity with scripting languages (Bash, Python, Ansible, YAML, Perl)
* Experience with IT systems standards and practices (ITIL, COBIT)
* Familiarity with Backup Software (Veeam)
* Experience in the DoD healthcare sector
