Job Description

Position Overview:

This Production Supervisor position is responsible for all production activities on an assigned shift, including meeting production schedules and standards, producing product in accordance with quality and customer requirements, and adhering to all company safety policies. This position is responsible for running production on a shift in a profitable and efficient manner through proper utilization of manpower, materials, equipment, and space. The Production Supervisor directly oversees a shift of production employees, but is also responsible for all other employees in the plant in the absence of other managers and supervisors, cultivating an environment of safety, high performance, and engagement. This position acts in accordance with and administer all company and plant policies, and local and federal laws and regulations.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintains safe working conditions by observing, investigating, and taking corrective action on unsafe conditions or acts and holding self and all employees accountable to plant safety and accident prevention policies
  • Observes production operation to assure compliance with standards in regards to quality, GMP, safety, production standards, work rules, and efficient operation of equipment
  • Identifies areas of concern in production operation, conducts investigations, and implements corrective actions to eliminate deviations
  • Manages labor hours and assignment of direct reports to prevent unfavorable labor variance
  • Reports on production, manning, quality, machine efficiency, and safety to Operations Manager and following shift Production Supervisor
  • Monitors operation for continuous improvement opportunities and proposes and actively participates in initiatives
  • Trains current and new employees on all company and plant policies, safe and efficient operation of equipment, and job-related tasks
  • Identifies training gaps and recommends solutions
  • Conducts and participates in investigations and progressive discipline to address violations of company and plant policies in a fair and consistent manner
  • Evaluates employee performance, including conducting performance reviews, establishing action plans for low performance, and identifying and partnering with high-potential employees to create development plans for short and long-term career goals
  • Partners with employees to provide training and support in career development and step progression in line with plant guidelines
  • Promotes teamwork and fosters a positive work environment for overall employee engagement
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, some college preferred
  • 3+ years of experience leading a team in a production environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Forklift certified, or willingness to obtain certification
  • First Aid/CPR certified, or willingness to obtain certification
  • Must be able to work any shift
