We have an Internship opportunity in Raleigh, NC. This internship is geared towards candidates interested in controls and automation engineering. Projects will include PLC/SCADA/HMI programming, instrumentation, factory automation, check out support and start-up assistance.

About the Internship You will have the opportunity to work on real-life projects. You'll support large scale client projects and have individual ownership of small scale business unit projects. In addition to your hiring manager, you'll also mentor under a senior engineer.

Daily office attendance is expected. At the end of your internship you will have the opportunity to make a 5 to 10 minute presentation about the project/s you worked on to Wunderlich-Malec's engineering leadership team. Term is mid-May to end of August.

Major Responsibilities Design, develop, and implement control system (logic software and hardware) to meet machine and integrated system requirements.



  • Develop control logic software and user interface applications
  • Develop schematics detailing control system configuration and wiring, and design equipment panel layouts on AutoCAD software
  • Assist with and debug integrated systems and the development of system documentation
  • Work on automation and control system integration projects for clients in industries such as chemical or biopharmaceutical
  • General administration such as paperwork, copying, printing, faxing, and using a computer


Experience



  • Preference is given to candidates with an understand of or exposure to control systems - components, ladder logic programming, SCADA programming, and their applications, but not required
  • Preference is given to candidates with an understanding of or exposure to instrumentation and controls design as well as PLC and/or SCADA, but not required
  • AutoCAD experience is preferred but not required


Education Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering majors. An interest/minor in Computer Science is preferred but not required.

Physical Demands of Position Seeing, color perception, hearing and clear speech, dexterity in hands, driving, lifting, climbing, and ability to mount and dismount equipment, pushing, and pulling.

Working Environment Standard office environment, On-site office environment, and diverse industrial environments. Frequent PC usage, fax machines, copy machines, phones.
