Senior Manufacturing Manager
Coordinate and lead all aspects of operations within the production division, ensuring the attainment of manufacturing objectives through the optimization of staff and resources alongside lean methodologies. The manufacturing manager, through self and others, has daily responsibilities for manufacturing product that meets all quality requirements and customer needs. In doing so, the manufacturing manager is responsible for ensuring the right resources (people, equipment, materials) are utilized to manufacture product in the most efficient and cost-effective manner while supporting Plant and/or Divisional initiatives and programs. This position reports to the plant manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the strategic direction and goals of the manufacturing department, ensuring alignment with Plant and Corporate strategic objectives.
- Supervise and appraise the sufficiency of action plans to achieve the plant's strategic aims, monitoring performance and securing alignment across the organization.
- Drive continuous improvement activities using Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma tools to reduce costs, improve quality, reduce lead times, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Manage staffing needs, budgets, expenses, methodologies, labor efficiency, waste, volume, and related benchmarks. Identify, prioritize, and allocate resources to achieve annual operational goals and budget commitments.
- Perform analytical reviews and recommend corrective actions for any exception conditions.
- Emphasize training and implement control systems to eliminate product discrepancies.
- Contribute to employee feedback and developmental processes.
- Collaborate with other managers and customers to ensure quality commitments are met and maintain consistency in personnel policy administration across the plant.
- Assure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including FDA, OSHA, OFCCP, and EPA.
- Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety SOPs, equipment, policies, and procedures, including department-specific requirements.
- Participate as a subject matter expert in audits.
- Partner with the leadership team to devise, roll out, and reinforce the plant's Baxter Operating System (BOS) framework.
- Manage shift and department Supervisors, indirectly supervising employees across multiple shifts. Ensure the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. This includes interviewing, hiring, coaching, motivating, developing, recognizing, and managing performance of direct reports. Provide regular feedback, set performance objectives, support development plans, and address complaints and resolve problems.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated history of strong interpersonal abilities and leadership qualities, excelling in collaborating across various departments and effectively guiding teams.
- Skill in directing departmental functions via subordinates who offer complete oversight in terms of costs, methods, and employees.
- Proficiency in interpreting and analyzing statistical data and financial reports, resolving technical difficulties, and managing multiple priorities in a manufacturing setting.
- In-depth process knowledge of manufacturing equipment/processes and operations processes, including labor efficiency, plan vs production (PvP), and capacity planning.
- Proficient written communication abilities and the skill to draft technical documentation and convey information effectively in regulatory/client audits.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Awareness of GMPs and other relevant regulatory protocols, alongside the proficiency to supervise audit-related responsibilities.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in developing and managing an annual operating budget.
- Green or Black Belt certification preferred.
Education and/or Experience
- BS/BA degree or equivalent in Business Management, Engineering, or related field. An MBA, MS, or other technical graduate degree is preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in manufacturing/operations within the medical device, pharmaceutical, or comparable environment.

The estimated salary is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
