Under the direction of the Associate Director, Specialty Pharmacy Services, all operational, financial, compliance, staffing, scheduling and marketing will be the responsibility of the Pharmacy Manager.

Responsibilities
- 1. Responsible for all aspects of Pharmacy Operations within the outpatient pharmacy including inventory, personnel/staffing, scheduling, compliance, marketing, billing, financial/budgeting with emphasis on customer service.
- 2. Maintains supervision and human resource responsibilities for all staff that report to outpatient pharmacy services.
- 3. Responsible for prescription clinical continuity and capture. accountable for increasing the same based on set goals by the department head.
- 4. Monitor P&L on a monthly basis with inputs on initiatives to increase revenues and margins
- 5. Coordinates the identification, communication and resolution of problems relating to daily operational activities
- 6. Encourages and stimulates excellence among employees in work habits, area maintenance, mutual respect , customer service and other activities directly or indirectly related to patient care.
- 7. Assists in the development and maintenance of programs and policies for monitoring and enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of pharmacy services .
- 8. Responsible for the ongoing development and motivation of staff by assuring the timely resolution of personnel issues, ongoing communication of performance expectations and the completion of performance reviews.
- 9. Communicates the status of projects, staff concerns, and problems to the Associate Director on a weekly basis.
- 10. Responsible for monitoring and reporting quality indicators, work volume statistics, and project statuses in the hospital or clinic departments.
- 11. Assists the Associate Director of Pharmacy in setting priorities for and tracking progress on quality, safety, and maintaining regulatory compliance. Maintains expert working knowledge of best practice standards for outpatient pharmacy. Ensures compliance with Federal and State regulatory bodies including Department of Public Health (DPH), American Society of Health system Pharmacists (ASHP), Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) and Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) and Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) regarding medication-related and pharmacy practice standards and metrics and relates them to current departmental and organizational policies and procedures in retail and long term care.
- 12. Performs regular audits and rounds in areas where medications are stored, prepared or administered to identify practices that deviate from existing policies or standards.
- 13. Advises the Associate Director of Pharmacy on designing new processes in a way that minimizes safety risk and process inefficiency. Utilize process improvement tools in designing and implementing new processes or process changes.
- 14. Participates in the recruitment, selection, orientation, training, and performance management of professional and technical staff in area that you have oversight for .
- 15. Fosters open inter- and intradepartmental communication between staff and managers . Participates in departmental, organizational and health system committees related to medication management as directed by the Associate Director, Pharmacy Services
- 16. Complies with all aspects of the hospital's patient/customer relations program. Demonstrates professionalism in all activities, as measure by a concern for patient care, the ability to listen /cooperate, showing flexibility under stress, the ability to help others, and the ability to set and achieve goals.
- 17. Oversees and ensures all ITS applications including dispensing software, 340B split software and institutions EMR support enhanced pharmacy operations.
- 18. Work in collaboration with Outpatient Specialty Service.
Qualifications
EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy. Advanced degree (M.S. or Pharm.D.) is preferred. EXPERIENCE Minimum 3 years of relevant pharmacy experience required. 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Completion of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency program, and if available, a PGY2 program in an area relevant to the position are preferred and may completely or partially fulfill the above experience requirements Advanced career ladder positions will be strongly considered for this position. LICENSURE CT Pharmacist Licensure required Immunization Certification through an accredited organization SPECIAL SKILLS Strong project management and problem solving skills desired. Strong interpersonal skill and the ability to coordinate work between diverse groups are essential .Strong Leadership and team building skills. Knowledge of automation technologies pertinent to medication use is strongly preferred. PHYSICAL DEMAND Ability to work long hours
