SENIOR DATA SCIENTIST

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Scientist with an active Secret clearance to join our analytics and AI/ML team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine learning, statistical modeling, and data engineering, and will work on high-impact projects supporting national security, defense, or federal civilian agencies. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, software developers, and mission stakeholders, to design, implement, and deploy advanced analytical solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and deploy machine learning models and advanced analytics solutions for mission-critical systems
• Work with structured and unstructured datasets from diverse sources to extract actionable insights
• Lead data science projects from discovery through deployment, including presenting findings to stakeholders
• Develop prototypes and proof-of-concepts in Python or R, and productionize models in collaboration with engineering teams
• Apply NLP, computer vision, or time series modeling techniques where applicable
• Ensure all work adheres to security, privacy, and clearance-level data handling protocols
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to team knowledge sharing

Basic Qualifications:

• Active Secret clearance (DoD); must be eligible for TS/SCI if required
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or AI
• Proficiency in Python (Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch, etc.) or R
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and MLOps pipelines
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex results to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure to classified or secure data workflows
• Experience with deep learning, NLP (e.g., BERT, LLMs), geospatial analysis, or time-series forecasting
• Agile or DevSecOps project experience
