As a Horizontal Directional Drill Locator at Ledcor, you play a critical role in supporting underground fiber installation projects by guiding drilling operations with precision and safety. You'll utilize locating equipment to monitor bore paths, identify underground utilities, and ensure accurate placement of fiber infrastructure. Your expertise helps prevent utility strikes and keeps projects on track, all while working closely with drill operators and field crews in dynamic outdoor environments.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide HDD drill head location services for the HDD Operator around and/or on utilities for fiber installation projects

  • Operate HDD Locator equipment in accordance with company and industry standards

  • Communicate work progress and safety performance to the site supervisor

  • Install conduit, vaults, and cable work when not locating

  • Maintain all equipment in good and safe working condition and report any findings to lead hand

Qualifications:

  • Must possess and maintain a clean driver's abstract and valid full-driver's license appropriate to the requirements of the vehicle being driven - CDL preferred

  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements

  • Two years of experience locating for a directional drill or combination of work experience and/or technical training in an industry-related trade certification or education program

  • Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental protection practices and procedures

  • Must be able to track and communicate daily production and materials

Work Conditions:

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including the ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet) and perform work on uneven surfaces

  • This position will require travel throughout the state of Montana - per diem and travel accommodations will be provided while working overnight and out-of-market
