Together, let's empower people everywhere to live their healthiest lives. Summary of Position We are seeking a Principal Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of our healthcare data supply chain, from source systems to analytical consumption. This role will be instrumental in building scalable data architectures that enable advanced healthcare analytics using Snowflake and Power BI platforms. Data Architecture & Strategy
Design and implement enterprise-scale data architecture for healthcare analytics, ensuring HIPAA compliance and data governance standards throughout the data supply chain from source systems to consumption layers. Develop comprehensive data models including conceptual, logical, and physical models that support healthcare analytics use cases while maintaining data lineage and quality across the entire ecosystem. Lead the design of foundation data models that standardize healthcare data from disparate source systems (EHRs, claims, clinical trials, IoT devices) into unified, analytics-ready structures. Architect semantic models and data marts optimized for Power BI consumption, ensuring optimal performance for complex healthcare analytics queries and real-time reporting requirements.
Technical Implementation
Design and optimize Snowflake data warehouse architecture including database structures, schemas, clustering strategies, and performance tuning for large-scale healthcare datasets. Implement robust ETL/ELT pipelines using modern data engineering tools to extract, transform, and load healthcare data while maintaining data quality, security, and compliance standards. Develop data integration strategies for connecting diverse healthcare source systems including Epic, Cerner, AllScripts, and other clinical and administrative systems to the centralized data platform. Create and maintain Power BI semantic models including measures, calculated columns, relationships, and row-level security to support self-service analytics for clinical and operational users.
Leadership & Collaboration
Lead cross-functional teams of data engineers, analysts, and BI developers to execute complex data architecture initiatives while mentoring junior team members on best practices. Collaborate with clinical stakeholders including physicians, nurses, quality managers, and executives to understand healthcare analytics requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Partner with IT security and compliance teams to ensure all data architecture solutions meet healthcare regulatory requirements including HIPAA, HITECH, and state privacy regulations. Work closely with vendor partners and third-party data providers to establish secure data feeds and integration protocols for external healthcare datasets.
Data Governance & Quality
Establish data governance frameworks including data cataloging, metadata management, data lineage tracking, and master data management specific to healthcare data domains. Implement comprehensive data quality monitoring and validation processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of healthcare data throughout the supply chain. Design data security and privacy controls including encryption, masking, and access controls to protect sensitive patient information while enabling analytics capabilities. Develop data lifecycle management strategies for healthcare data retention, archival, and deletion in compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
Innovation & Optimization
Evaluate and implement emerging technologies such as cloud-native analytics tools, machine learning platforms, and real-time streaming technologies to enhance healthcare analytics capabilities. Optimize data platform performance through continuous monitoring, tuning, and scaling strategies to support growing healthcare data volumes and user demands. Lead proof-of-concept initiatives for advanced analytics use cases including predictive modeling, population health analytics, and clinical decision support systems. Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual processes in data pipeline management, monitoring, and maintenance while improving overall system reliability and efficiency.
