Overview

The Research Department at Alnylam is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Principal Associate Scientist to join our interdisciplinary team focused on advancing extrahepatic siRNA delivery and our mechanistic understanding of RNAi biology across tissues, specifically skeletal muscle, heart, and kidney. The role requires a strong background in biological sciences and technical skillsets in in vitro cell culture as well as molecular and biochemical assays. Prior experience or a willingness to learn in vivo rodent work is strongly preferred. We seek someone who will flourish in a goal- and timeline-oriented collaborative environment and be able to rapidly learn new topics and experimental techniques.

This position islab-based onsiteand will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities

  • The candidate will engage in a variety of mechanistic siRNA research efforts to evaluate RNAi compounds, utilizing biochemical, molecular, and cell-based assays.
  • Design, execution, interpretation, and troubleshooting of experiments on an individual basis as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • Presentation of results in both written and oral format to key stakeholders within the Research organization.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field with 6+ (BS) or 4+ (MS) years of work experience, preferably in industry setting
  • Prior experience and/or working knowledge of nucleic acid-based therapies (siRNA, ASO, CRISPR) is highly desired.
  • Proficiency in mammalian immortalized and primary cell culture (maintenance, transfection/stable selection).
  • Molecular biology assays to support evaluation of siRNA activity (qPCR, Western blotting, ELISA, Ago-immunoprecipitation, etc.).
  • Experience with (or willingness to learn) in vivo rodent handling and experimentation is a plus.
  • Excellent lab technique and ability to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills (written and oral) are required.
