The Position Scientist Analytical Development

Department Summary

Analytical development is looking for a highly motivated Scientist to support routine analytical testing and participate analytical method development for pre-clinical assets as well as process development. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for conducting LC based methods to support characterization testing and process development across Roche's pre-clinical to early clinical pipeline.

This position is based in Philadelphia, PA. It is a lab-based role and therefore requires the candidate to be on site the majority (> 80%) of time and to wear PPE as required by lab SOPs.

The Opportunity

  • Advanced technical lab skills in separation-based size measurement and light scattering (MALS, DLS) methods required, with solid understanding of background analytical theory and instrumentation and an ability to train others.

  • Experience with other structural methods such as mass photometry and subvisible particle analysis is also viewed favorably.

  • Proven track record of developing, implementing, optimizing and supporting testing of these methods.

  • Capable of working independently on multiple diverse challenges of moderate complexity with some supervision. Can effectively design, implement, and troubleshoot experiments.

  • Flexible mindset that quickly adapts to changes in tasks and order of priorities to meet the needs of the business. Willingness to work across analytical development and QC (GxP testing) environments as needed.

  • Recognized as a strong team player with excellent collaboration, organizational, and communication skills to drive cross-functional objectives.

Who You Are

  • BA/BS in Biochemistry or Analytical Chemistry with 3-5 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Hands-on experience of Liquid Chromatography (LC) and Multi-Angle Light Scattering (MALS) is required.

  • Experience with Refractive Index (RI) and Multi-angle Light Scattering (MALS) detectors is required.

  • Excellent organization, communication and collaboration skills.

  • Keep accurate records, follow instructions and comply with company policies.

  • Due to the inherent nature of experimental work, some extended hours/weekend work may be needed on occasion.

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

  • Experience with gene therapy is preferred.

  • Experience with Dynamic Light Scattering is preferred.

Relocation benefits are not available for this posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Pennsylvania is $91,000.00 - $143,000.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
