The Position

At Roche/Genentech Pharma Product Development Global Clinical Operations (PDG), we are determined to transform drug development and realize our Pharma Ambition to deliver 20 transformative medicines addressing diseases with the highest societal burden by 2029.

The Country Therapeutic Area Leader (cTAL) is a senior leadership role providing local leadership, driving both country and therapeutic area objectives. This role involves contributing to the Country Leadership Team and partnering on process improvement and innovation, and leading a high-performing team. The cTAL is accountable for developing and executing the country TA strategy in alignment with global priorities, ensuring effective country delivery of studies, and performing country landscaping to support the pipeline. Effective stakeholder collaboration is critical, with a focus on proactive engagement with internal and external partners.

The Opportunity:

  • Contribute as a member of the Country Leadership Team (LT) where applicable, sharing collective leadership with the Country Head, Country Performance and Analytics Lead (APO Lead), Clinical Operations Excellence Lead (COE Lead), and other cTALs.

  • Partner with CoE and APO leaders to design, develop, and implement process improvement solutions and innovations to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Develop and implement country strategy, leading a high-performing team through collective leadership.

  • Accountable for the development, implementation, execution and monitoring of the country's TA strategy, ensuring alignment with the overarching global TA strategy and objectives.

  • Accountable for the analysis of key performance metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.

  • Understand and translate global strategic priorities (e.g., ESPC/LSPC/One Portfolio/ClinOps) into actionable local delivery plans and integrate them into the country TA strategy.

  • Collaborate with Clinical Research Engagement Leaders (CRELs) on the creation and operationalization of the Country Disease Area Strategy, ensuring consistency with the integrated Country Operational Plan (iCOP) and the country TA strategy.

  • Accountable for the country delivery of all clinical studies within the assigned therapeutic area(s), working in close collaboration with CRELs and CRO partners to achieve timelines, quality standards, and study objectives.

  • Conduct country landscaping activities for both new and existing therapeutic areas to identify opportunities, assess the competitive environment, and support pipeline development and planning.

  • Proactively partner and engage with internal stakeholders, including Regional geography TA Leaders, the community of cTALs, global TA leaders, Asset Leaders, TA heads, and study teams, to address challenges, facilitate issue resolution, and implement effective mitigation strategies.

  • Actively participate in the local site engagement community, collaborating with local Medical Affairs, Global Medical Collaboration Lead/Medical Science Liaison (GMCL/ MSLs, CRELs, and other relevant functions.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including clinical sites for landscaping and study execution, investigator networks, collaborative research groups, hospital networks, and Patient Advocacy Groups.

  • Manages (if applicable) direct reports

  • Leading by example in demonstrating and championing inclusive behaviors in your team, PDG, PD, and the Roche Enterprise. Provide opportunities for growth and development for all team members and address any barriers that may exist.

  • People management-related administration (e.g. Workday People & Culture Management system tasks) and contact for employment-related matters.

Who You Are

  • You have a BA/BS in life sciencesor related field

  • You have prior people leadership experience

  • You have 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry.

  • You have prior experience in product development

  • You have knowledge of end-to-end clinical trial processes, and strong knowledge of clinical trial regulations and guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • You have a Postgraduate degree or master's degree in life sciences or related field

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is:162,300-301,300 Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
