Job Summary

The Director is responsible for the effective daily operations of the School of Music, ensuring a safe, efficient, and supportive educational environment for faculty and students. The Director oversees program administration, supports the development of new initiatives, and serves as a primary liaison with faculty, students, families, and the broader community. This role is also required, on occasion, to represent the School of Music at a variety of community and professional events.



Job Responsibilities Include

    Oversee the daily operations of the Music School including student registrations and patron liaison, correspondence
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of patron and faculty engagement, ensuring the highest level of student satisfaction across the School of Music.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, maintains oversight over all School of Music programs, providing strategic advice to faculty and staff where necessary, to ensure the programming and fiscal growth.
  • In Collaboration with the Executive Director prepare and develop School of Music Budget
  • Assist the Executive Director with development of new School of Music programs and initiatives.
  • Oversees the coordination of the Recanati-Kaplan Merit Scholarship for the School of Music
  • Assist the Executive Director with the overall coordination of the Recanati Program.
  • Works one-on-one with faculty to support, coach, and troubleshoot issues through individual meetings and class observations.
  • Act as primary liaison with marketing, sales and customer care.
  • Oversee and implement accurate season load.
  • Placement of new patrons with faculty.
  • Recruit and hire new faculty with Executive Director.
  • Represent the School of Music at a variety of community and professional events.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.


Experience, Education, & Skills Desired

  • Bachelor's Degree; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 5+ years' administration experience required, preferably managing a music school.
  • Strong organizational and supervisory skills.
  • Experience in an arts and cultural organization a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills accompanied by a strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Excel and database management.
  • Ability to mentor faculty, students and staff.
  • Candidate must be service-oriented and able to interact effectively an diplomatically with a broad range of people.


Work Environment & Requirements

40 hours/week with the flexibility to attend evening and weekend events as needed.

Compensation Range

$75,000 - $95,000

The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
