Manages and directs the day to day operations of a research center/institute or medium sized department. Plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of the center/institute/department. Develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities.

About the Department and/or College

Founded in 1925 as one of the university's four original colleges, the College of Arts & Sciences is comprised of 15 departments and one program, offering a wide variety of courses and programs in the humanities, social and behavioral sciences, mathematics, physical sciences, and natural sciences. The College has approximately 10,000 students enrolled representing more than a quarter of the overall Texas Tech University student population while maintaining a 22:1 student to faculty ratio.

Major/Essential Functions


  • Direct and manage all College of Arts and Sciences marketing, advertising, public relations, communications campaigns, and multimedia projects.
  • Strategically lead and deploy consistent messaging and marketing campaigns to target audiences, including but not limited to, College of Arts and Sciences alumni, donors, prospective students, and internal constituencies.
  • Develop an overall college communication strategy and build cross channel marketing campaigns that advance the interests of the college including research, fundraising, student enrollment, key media coverage, and related priorities.
  • Manage and lead staff that includes but is not limited to Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications, Senior Designer, Media Relations Coordinator, Events Coordinator, and Assistant Director of Events & Alumni Relations.
  • Coordinate the production of marketing materials associated with the college and its primary communications channels including the dedicated college website, social media channels, email marketing, and more.
  • Interface and build rapport with College of Arts and Sciences administration, faculty, staff, alumni, and students, as well as with TTU's central Office of Marketing & Communications.
  • Management and content planning of all official College of Arts and Sciences print and digital communications channels.
  • Provide communications and marketing support to alumni relations, development, and recruiting teams, including in the form of event planning, communications campaigns, and management.
  • Provide internal communications support to the Office of the Dean.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Six years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education beyond Bachelor's may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in marketing, public relations, advertising, creative media industries, or similar, plus experience in higher education.
