What to Expect

The Failure Analysis Team's mission is to determine root cause and contributing factors to improve Tesla's products in collaboration with a large cross-section of other engineering teams. Engineers and Technicians on the team are responsible for a wide variety of Vehicle and Energy systems including the existing fleet and new products under development. This is a high-visibility, individual contributor role that requires extensive hands-on failure analysis of electronic components.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, fast-learning individual who will work closely with experienced engineers on analyzing, root causing, and reporting on electronic component issues involving systems such as infotainment, low voltage, power electronics, and battery systems among others.

What You'll Do
  • Support Failure analysis engineers on diagnosing fault and root causing on electrical components
  • Apply analytical tools and techniques to perform initial fault isolation nondestructively: Optical Microscope, 2D XRAY and Scanning Acoustic Microscopy
  • Perform basic electrical tests using power supply, Digital Multimeter and Curve Tracer
  • Assist in sample preparation using techniques such as cross-sectioning and chemical etching

What You'll Bring
  • Proven capacity to rapidly acquire new knowledge and make impactful contributions in a rapidly changing environment
  • Possess reasonable mechanical skills and a keen analytical mindset
  • Some familiarity with basic electrical measurements using Digital Multimeter and Power Supply
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Machine shop or CNC machining experience a strong plus
  • Mechanical cross section and any chemical etching knowledge a strong plus

    Expected Compensation
    $30.50 - $58.33/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
