Job Description
We are currently hiring a Packaging Engineer CO-OP in Breinigsville, PA This position is from January-June 2025. This position will provide Packaging Engineering support for packaging materials, project engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ranging from packaging material development, packaging material specification creation and updating, packaging material line trials and qualification, line efficiency improvements, support investigation of new packaging innovation, and gross margin projects and support of capital project implementation. This position reports to the Packaging Project Manager. What you'll Brew Support package development and packaging innovation projects. This may include some or all the following:
- Provide direct support to Project Managers for discrete phases or technology areas on larger scale capital projects.
- Interface with Brewery packaging and maintenance departments to provide hands-on situational troubleshooting, as well as identification, investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of new projects to achieve operating cost reductions, manufacturing flexibility improvements, improved product quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Support of packaging continuous improvement initiatives. This includes learning, comprehending, documenting, and improving the packaging process to maximize throughput and minimize downtime.
- Support of packaging material line trials, packaging material qualification and gross margin initiatives for cost saving opportunities.
- Develop a deep understanding of packaging in larger scale beverage packaging operations. Candidate must be hands-on and willing to get intimately involved in packaging operations and interaction with packaging materials.
- Create and maintain packaging specifications and pallet patterns.
- Maintain documentation in SAP or other software for product weight and dimensions.
- Collaborate with Quality and Packaging operations to recognize improvement ideas and initiate improvement plans. Willingness to visit and communicate with packaging suppliers.
- Responsible for project work on an as needed basis by Project Managers, while interfacing with Project engineers, Quality team members, Control engineers, Instrumentation engineers, and packaging reliability teams.
What Ingredients You'll Bring
- Must be enrolled in B.S. in Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Knowledge of beverage packaging operations preferred. AutoCAD experience a must. TOPS or CAPE experience preferred. Production/Manufacturing experience preferred. Pack design, Statistical Analysis, Minitab experience a plus.
- Ability to prioritize and make quick decisions in a fast- paced environment with a strong willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently, solve problems, and show strong self-motivation and initiative
- A collaborative / participative team orientation and comfort level working with and through people to accomplish goals.
In accordance with pay transparency laws the rate for this role if hired is $18 - $20 an hour.
