Function:

U.S. Electrical Services, Inc., is searching for a Central Distributions Operations Shift Supervisor to oversee the second shift in our Middletown, CT distribution center. This position will report to the Shift Operations Manager and be responsible for the following:



Key Responsibilities:




  • Ensures safety objectives and housekeeping standards are met.
  • Ensures internal and external customer-related service objectives and performance metrics are met on the basic level, and exceeded during times of need, and works with key stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement is supporting our long-term objectives.
  • Establishes labor plans based on forecasted volume, and manages labor needs to meet the requirement while controlling costs.
  • Organizes / refines daily work schedules as workload situation demands. Leads all warehouse activities and team members to provide a smooth and efficient flow of work.
  • Participates in candidate selection. Trains, evaluates, recommends and delivers disciplinary action for issues as safety, attendance, performance, or policy violation, including terminations where absolutely necessary.
  • Conducts annual and ongoing performance reviews or feedback sessions with employees as needed to discuss performance results
  • Leads staff in a manner that is consistent with our organizational culture, which is based on four values: Employee Fulfillment, Excellence, Integrity, and Shared Vision.
  • Actively seeks development opportunities for team members. Promotes a friendly environment, good morale and cooperation among team members. Reconciles and approves time detail for employees in payroll system.
  • Generates ideas for improvement in operating methods and procedures within the team, and identifies root causes and implements solutions as needed. Makes recommendations to improve warehouse layout, workflow, operating costs and customer service, for consideration and approval of the CDC Shift Operations Manager, and other concerned management personnel.
  • Assists in the formulation of annual operating budget and objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.





Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:




  • 4 years of progressive leadership experience in a distribution environment required.
  • Advanced education, including STEP or ALPS is preferred. Must possess a high school diploma.
  • Experience supervising multiple functions within the distribution center, including but not limited to; Inbound (receiving), Production, Packing, and Shipping Departments.
  • Must possess leadership, supervisory, and interpersonal skills to be able to lead, coach and motivate large groups of employees.
  • Must be able to handle conflict well and give positive and negative feedback along with managing performance issues.
  • Must possess strong written and communication skills to clearly express his or her ideas to customers, employees, and higher levels of management and document performance reviews and discipline when needed.
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills to be able to evaluate issues as they occur and respond to issues with creative problem solving.
  • Must be computer literate and be able to utilize Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and other software management solutions.
  • Must have experience with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems).
  • Must be willing to obtain a forklift certification and prior experience operating a powered industrial truck, preferably cherry picker and stand-up forklifts.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, pull, and push up to 40 - 70 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally with or without accommodation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
