Job Description: Production Specialist - Flexographic Ink

About the Role
We are seeking a Production Specialist with hands-on experience in flexographic inks to join our manufacturing team in East Brunswick, NJ. This role is critical in ensuring the consistent quality, color matching, and production support of ink used in flexographic printing applications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, quality-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, mix, and adjust flexographic inks to meet production and customer specifications.
Perform color matching using drawdowns, spectrophotometer readings, and customer standards.
Maintain and manage ink inventory, including receiving, labeling, and proper storage of inks.
Collaborate with press operators and production staff to ensure inks run properly on press.
Troubleshoot ink-related issues (viscosity, adhesion, drying, color consistency).
Follow all safety, environmental, and quality compliance procedures in the ink room and production floor.
Document ink formulations, adjustments, and usage for traceability.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to ink handling and print quality.
Qualifications
Required: 2+ years of experience working with Flexographic inks in a production, ink room, or printing environment.
Strong knowledge of ink mixing, color matching, and press-side troubleshooting.
Ability to use measurement tools such as a spectrophotometer or densitometer.
Understanding of ink properties (viscosity, pH, adhesion, curing/drying).
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
High school diploma or equivalent (technical training a plus).
Preferred Skills
Experience with water-based and solvent-based inks.
Familiarity with printing substrates (film, paper, board).
Previous experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or 5S practices.
