Senior Director, Clinical and Medical Affairs Operations

Responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of clinical programs and operations. Oversee multiple clinical functions which may include clinical platform system development, clinical information security, quality management, utilization management, and/or quality and Stars solutions. Ensure that clinical development programs are conducted with the highest standards of quality, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. Lead cross-functional teams and serve as a liaison between internal stakeholders and external partners.

Provide strategic and operational leadership for the planning, execution, and delivery of clinical initiatives to support division and organizational goals.

Set strategy for clinical operational infrastructure, business processes and design, and integrate technology enhancement planning and implementation with business stakeholders.

Prepare, deliver, and implement operational strategy and roadmap for clinical and medical affairs business operations.

Identify and lead industry best practices in area of functional expertise.

Drive and adopt strategic and transformational change to support clinical operations at a functional and enterprise level.

Drive continuous improvement in clinical processes and systems.

Actively manage risk at a functional, business, and enterprise level.

Serve as a key contributor to ensure compliance with Clinical and Medical Affairs operations.

Direct and oversee activities required to meet state and federal regulatory compliance in the areas of quality and clinical adherence.

Ensure effective communications are maintained within the department and externally; where appropriate, involve employees in plans, and keep employees up to date on progress towards meeting goals.

Monitor clinical program performance metrics, including timelines, targets, and budget adherence.

Identify and prioritize training needs that address the department's/division's operational goals and business support needs.

Prepare KJAs for direct reports that align with their job descriptions and goals. Monitor the performance of direct reports; provide timely and objective coaching; conduct performance reviews; and recommend salary increases.

Monitor the department's turnover, productivity, and overall performance to ensure adequate staffing and performance that meet department standards.

Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience; Minimum of 3 additional years of experience related to functional area

Minimum of 6 years of management experience with responsibilities for hiring, training, assigning work and managing performance of direct reports

Advanced degree (MHA, MSHA, MBA) preferred

In-depth knowledge of clinical program/operations design, operational execution, and regulatory guidelines

Comprehensive knowledge of business systems and processes, with a strong focus on industry best practices for quality management and closing gaps in care

Strong demonstrations of success in implementing operational enhancements to achieve business objectives, preferably within healthcare environment

Ability to influence and lead at the enterprise level, including clinical operations and cross-functional teams

Demonstrated strategic planning capabilities

Proven track record in managing external vendors

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of job duties

Working Conditions

The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature is adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust etc.

Compensation range for the role is listed below. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Salary Ranges: $126,000.00 - $191,625.00
