JOB SUMMARY

The Coil Winder II will work in our Transformer Fabrication Winding Department. A Coil Winder II will work in our Transformer Fabrication Winding Department. They will operate or tend coil winding machines to produce the winding portion of low voltage, medium voltage, high voltage, high current, high power transformers including potential transformers, current transformers, dielectric, regulators, motor test sets, compensation reactors, resonance test sets, core loss, re-closer, column regulators, AC, DC transformers. Attach, alter, and trim materials such as wire, insulation, and coils, using hand tools. The role will be based in our Accident Maryland Facility reporting to the Production Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS



  • Ability to work on small or medium winding machines; learned capability to run the column winder machine.
  • Ability to work independently on small, standard jobs, while learning more complex tasks.
  • Assist team members in completing tasks and jobs.
  • Material usage is accurate and extra efficient.
  • Performance consistently meets and sometimes exceeds expectations in quality, accuracy and time management.
  • Independently winds transformers following instructions using a coil winding machine.
  • Fabricate and install coil forms onto the winding machine while working independently.
  • Winds copper or aluminum conductors around the form.
  • Install taps in the required location using a soldering iron or torch.
  • Install insulating materials between the layers of conductors.
  • Follows coil treatment procedures as outlined on the winding sheet (JobPack).
  • Take resistance reading and do continuity checks on coils.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and functional work environment
  • Operate coil processing equipment and bake oven.
  • Overtime may be required in order to meet scheduling requirements
  • Accurately track material usage.
  • Alert Supervisor of low inventory.
  • Assist team members in organizing and storing parts and materials used in the Winding Shop


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Technical coursework in electronics is preferred


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:



  • 2-4 years of experience working in an environment requiring extreme attention to detail while working with both hand and power tools, preferred.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (Not Required):



  • 2-4 years of experience working in an Industrial type setting
  • 2-4 years of experience operating manufacturing equipment


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Operate hand tools
  • Operate power tools
  • Read and follow written instructions
  • Knowledge of soldering
  • Knowledge of brazing
  • Ability to learn to operate a coil winding machine
  • Ability to learn to operate an overhead crane, coil processing equipment and bake oven.
  • Stay focused and work well alone or as part of a team
  • Proficient in Math


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use fax machines, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers and customers. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job. Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds. Must use assistance when lifting 50 or more pounds.

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.
Hourly Pay Range Minimum $20.22 - Midpoint $25.27
