Senior Project Manager, Project Management

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

This position provides strategic leadership for complex IT projects with budgets between $1M and $25M. A Senior IT Project Manager is more than a taskmaster; they are a strategic leader, a visionary, and a facilitator of innovation. They operate at a higher level, focusing on the "why" behind the "what" and "how," ensuring projects are fully aligned with the overarching strategic goals of the organization and empowering teams to deliver exceptional value.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all-inclusive.

Strategic Alignment & Vision

  • Ensures project goals are tightly aligned with DaVita's mission and strategic priorities, translating high-level strategy into actionable plans.
  • Participates in identifying and prioritizing opportunities for utilizing IT to achieve the goals of the enterprise.
  • Independently navigates project complexities, proactively shaping the project plan rather than just executing it.

Leadership & Team Empowerment

  • Acts as a servant leader to the project team, empowering them to succeed by removing impediments and fostering a culture of ownership and accountability.
  • Leads projects using Agile methodologies to manage deliverables, facilitate sprint planning, and guide iterative development cycles.
  • Guides teams in continuous discovery to understand user needs and continuous delivery to release value frequently and reliably.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight for project teams, directing and monitoring daily work toward goals.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Cultivates strong, collaborative relationships with all stakeholders, from Senior Leadership to individual team members, navigating diverse perspectives to build consensus.
  • Develops and executes a comprehensive stakeholder engagement plan that fosters a shared sense of ownership and tailors communication to resonate with each audience.
  • Delivers engaging, informative, and well-organized presentations to stakeholders at all levels.

Project Execution & Risk Management

  • Takes complete ownership of project outcomes from initiation to closure, holding themselves accountable for both successes and failures.
  • Proactively anticipates challenges and assesses risks, embracing complexity as an opportunity for innovation and creating strategies for mitigation and contingency planning.
  • Leads, plans, schedules, tracks, and manages all project deliverables, goals, and milestones.
  • Analyzes results critically, identifying lessons learned and applying them to drive continuous improvement in future projects.
  • Manages project scope and the change control process as appropriate.
  • Develops and manages project budgets, analyzes variances, and resolves invoice issues

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area required or a combination of education and progressively responsible work experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years' IT experience required, including a minimum of five (5) years' experience managing IT projects.
  • Demonstrated experience translating high-level strategy into actionable project plans.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) required.
  • Experience with projects involving cloud technologies required.
  • Demonstrated experience in resource management and change management techniques required.
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency in MS Project required; intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or completion of another recognized project management certification.
  • Change management or Lean Six Sigma certifications.
  • Experience with project portfolio management (PPM) tools (e.g., Targetprocess Clarity, Smartsheet, Jira, Microsoft Project Online).
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience with Continuous Discovery and Delivery frameworks.
  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance, etc.).

The Salary Range for the role is $82,800.00-$121,600.00 per year. If a candidate is hired, they will be paid at least the minimum wage according to their geographical jurisdiction and the exemption status for the position. New York Exempt: New York City and Long Island: $64,350.00/year, Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties: $64,350.00/year, Remainder of New York state: $60,405.80/year New York Non-exempt: New York City and Long Island: $16.50/hour, Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties: $16.50/hour, Remainder of New York state: $15.50/hour Washington Exempt: $77,968.80/year Washington Non-exempt: Bellingham: $17.66/hour, Burien: $21.16/hour, Unincorporated King County: $20.29/hour, Renton: $20.90/hour, Seattle: $20.76/hour, Tukwila: $21.10/hour, Remainder of Washington state: $16.66/hour
