Job Description

The Office of Investments at the University of Missouri System manages investment portfolios with total exposures exceeding $11 billion. The Investment Analytics, Operations and Reporting Associate will support the financial and operational activities of the investment office, working closely with investment team members, the UM Controller's Office, the University's investment custodian, and other third-party service providers.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a foundational understanding of accounting and financial principles, strong analytical skills, mastery of Microsoft Excel, and an interest in institutional investments. The associate will gain exposure to investment operations, accounting processes, custodial systems, and investment reporting.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with maintaining the relationship with the University's investment custodian, including support for accounting, tax, and performance reporting processes.
  • Support reconciliation of accounting and performance data across the custodial platform by working with internal and external stakeholders to resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare regular reports for internal investment staff and governance groups such as the Investment Advisory Committee and the Board of Curators.
  • Learn to use custodial bank platforms and stay informed about system updates; support implementation of new tools and enhancements.
  • Assist with onboarding new investments into internal tracking systems and custodial accounts.
  • Provide administrative and organizational support for contract documentation and amendments.
  • Support cash management processes, including daily reconciliations and updates to internal cash tracking and forecasting tools.
  • Help track and organize investment management fee information and support related reporting efforts.
  • Gather materials and respond to audit and tax data requests in coordination with the Controller's office and external providers.
  • Respond to information requests from investment managers, especially related to compliance, tax, and regulatory documentation.
  • Complete industry surveys and data requests.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives by identifying efficiencies in reporting, documentation, and data management.
  • Maintain and organize digital and physical files relevant to all investment operations activities.

TRAVEL
Minimal; may include occasional attendance at meetings or conferences.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
General direction and oversight will be provided by the Managing Director.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Foundational understanding of accounting or finance principles.
Analytical mindset with the ability to learn and apply problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
Comfort with emerging technologies, including Microsoft CoPilot, with a willingness to integrate these tools into daily workflows.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Organizational skills and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with team members and external partners.

Shift

Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field is required and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience preferred (e.g., in accounting, investment operations, or financial services).

Preferred Qualifications

Registration as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred and/or interest in pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $60,000 - $90,000 per year
Grade: UNC
