Shive-Hattery's Industrial Architectural Studio has an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Process Architect with 10+ years of experience in the business development, design, and leadership of architectural projects. This position is expected to sit in our Cedar Rapids office which will provide fantastic career-growth opportunities for a talented individual who is prepared to take on next-level leadership challenges, contribute on an elevated level in a collaborative team culture, and expand their expertise.

As an architect on the Industrial team, you will be collaborating with multi-discipline teams across the entire Shive-Hattery ecosystem on local, regional, and national projects. You will also be involved in growing client work in the Cedar Rapids area and with clients who have presence is Cedar Rapids while supporting our significant industrial team in the area.

Requirements

We are a full-service design firm offering interior design, architecture, engineering, and landscape architecture. In this role, you will lead architectural design and project management efforts for projects serving primarily industrial clients but will also be provided opportunities to support work with clients in the other sectors that Shive-Hattery provides services within. Candidates should demonstrate skills in the following areas:

  • Leading the architectural design and project management with design discussions, idea generation, collaboration, and design work in drawing, modeling, and 3D image formats.
  • Directing non-licensed and other professionals assigned to design, produce, and coordinate the design process and technical documents.
  • Attending project and client meetings with design professionals for both business development opportunities and projects under contract.
  • Developing technical design solutions.
  • Assisting with design presentation development.

Requirements

Applicants should have experience, including:

  • Completion of an accredited professional degree program with a bachelor's degree or master's degree in architecture or have equivalent education and experience. Licensed architect is a requirement.
  • Proven experience in relationship building, business development, winning work, and leading project teams through every phase of the design process.
  • Possession of excellent communication skills which set you apart in the profession.
  • Continuously demonstrating a high degree of aptitude in critical and creative thinking associated with design and the design process.
  • Knowledge of programming, planning, and building materials systems and performance.
  • Demonstrating comprehensive understanding of architectural specifications, international building codes, Factory Mutual design guide requirements, life safety code, and current ADA requirements.
  • Leadership of project stakeholder engagement sessions with owners, and users.
  • Self-motivation and ability to problem-solve independently adding great value to your role, while understanding, and supporting the importance of collaboration across project teams and disciplines.

  • Knowledge of industrial process documentation and familiarity with developing architectural designs that provide spaces which allow them to function effectively and efficiently.
