GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible for administering anesthesia, monitoring patients' vital signs, and overseeing patient recovery from anesthesia. Assists with anesthesia-related medical and emergency situations such as airway maintenance and pulmonary ventilation. Complies with rules and regulations of all applicable federal, state, and local laws as well as all Grand Island Regional Medical Center (GIRMC) policies and Medical Staff rules and regulations. Responsible for all quality initiatives and proactively and collaboratively promotes high quality, cost-effective anesthetic care by leading interactions with hospital medical staff and administration. PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. *Commits to the GIRMC mission, vision, values and goals and consistently demonstrates our core values. 2. *Responsible for routine clinical duties as a Certified RN Anesthetist as outlined in the GIRMC Certified RN Anesthetist (1417) job description. 3. *Assists with organizing Anesthesia services, programs, policies, and procedures which are developed to serve the Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Direction of GIRMC. 4. *Assists with hiring, training, supervising, coaching, mentoring, retraining, and evaluating staff. 5. *Collaborates with leadership to implement standards of clinical practice, reviewing and revising as necessary to reflect changes in clinical delivery and to the people served. 6. Addresses and supports cultural practices if the practices harm others or interfere with the planned course of medical care. 7. *Ensures that clear, concise, and current written policies and procedures are available to assist the staff and minimize risk factors. 8. Recommends modifications, additions, or deletions to staffing plans to ensure reasonable hours and acceptable working conditions to provide optimal patient care coverage. This includes the development of monthly department work schedules and approving time off requests. 9. Maintains close coordination of Anesthesia services in alignment with all other departments of GIRMC to ensure continuity and collaboration of services. 10. Ensures that all aspects of patient care are in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. 11. Provides performance review feedback to leadership on annual performance reviews for staff. 12. Builds and leads a culture of teamwork and respect throughout the organization, engaging effectively with all stakeholders, e.g., physicians, staff, outside contractors, and the people served. 13. Responsible for cost controls of the department. 14. Initiates and supports problem-solving groups that proactively resolve issues within Anesthesia services. 15. Collaborates with hospital leaders in developing, implementing, reviewing, revising, and monitoring organization wide performance improvement activities, including infection control. 16. Responsible for the patient experience with services provided. 17. Responds to issues affecting the delivery of timely, efficient, and quality patient care services to patients in a timely fashion. 18. In collaboration with the senior leadership team, implements organization-wide programs, policies, and procedures to secure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations including state, Medicare & Medicaid, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), accreditation organizations, and others. 19. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. 20. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned. 21. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 1. Maintains clinical competency as required for the unit including but not limited to age-specific competencies relative to patient's growth and developmental needs, annual skill competency verification and mandatory education and competencies. 2. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions. 3. Knowledge of organizational and human resource management standards and practices. 4. Knowledge of performance improvement, budgetary and financial methods, and practices. 5. Knowledge of management and leadership principles and practices. 6. Skill in conflict diffusion and resolution. 7. Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes. 8. Ability to make operational and management decisions in response to changing conditions 9. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff. 11. Ability to problem solve and engage independent critical thinking skills. 12. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information. 13. Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision. 14. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Post-graduate degree in Nurse Anesthesia required. Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required. Licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in the State of Nebraska required. Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist required. OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS: Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required. |
