School of Music

Job Description

This is a full-time, nine-month tenure-track position. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses for choral music education majors, graduate music education courses in person and/or online; conducting a university choral ensemble; assisting with freshman music education seminar; advising and administering the online MM in Music Education; supervising master's and doctoral student research; and supervising graduate student assistants in the music education and choral areas. Expectations include publishing music education research and pursuing creative/scholarly activities related to choral music pedagogy. The successful candidate will develop working relationships with music educators in the state and provide service to the department and the profession.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Completed doctorate in music education by August 15, 2026 is required. Minimum of 3 years of successful secondary school choral teaching experience.

Candidates will be evaluated on:

  • Successful music education teaching and choral conducting experiences in secondary schools; experience in higher education desired.
  • Record of research publications and presentations.
  • Ability to perform creative/scholarly activities such as workshops and clinics, conducting honor choirs, community or youth music activities, and/or adjudication.
