OVERVIEW

The Junior Packaging Engineer will be a key member of the Engineering and Maintenance team. He/she will work with all level of packaging and process systems within the plant. The position will also be required to assist with Capital Projects and Repairs. He/she must be capable of working with minimal supervision with a focus on safety, reliability and efficiency.

This position will review documentations for projects and create files storage for BOM and CAD drawings. The position will also be responsible for identifying and executing solution for quality and performance improvements for the Packaging Department

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Ability to communicate component level design/idea to internal/external customers.
  • Work with Packaging and Maintenance to troubleshoot issues, maintain packaging quality and optimizes packaging line efficiencies.
  • Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills through the use of analytical data.
  • Provide support with Capital Projects.
  • Perform line studies on packaging lines to determine losses based on machine, material or labor.
  • Provide the Packaging Department with technical equipment expertise, standard operation procedures, change-overs and maintenance.
  • Review CAD models and drawings of component to ensure their design integrity.
  • Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) and other project documentation.
  • Develop and maintain the component technical specifications.
  • Ability to prioritize assigned tasks.
  • Work independently with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, suppliers, installers, and project managers to deliver projects on schedule and on budget.
  • Provide technical support to senior engineers, manufacturing, and quality organizations.



WORK EXPERIENCES



  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to be trusted with high sensitive and confidential information at all times.
  • Experience with, and ability to create & maintain various management reports.
  • Must have intermediate computer experience, ideally with SAP, EWM, and Microsoft products.
  • Excellent skills in estimating rates, adding, and subtracting mentally while constantly multi-tasking.
  • Experience in reading and producing mechanical drawings.
  • Awareness of CAD software application.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and follow through to resolve any outstanding issues.
  • Proficient skills specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are required.
  • Fundamental understanding of food standards, safety and sanitation and good manufacturing practices.



EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Packaging Science or related field from an accredited college / university.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a packaging environment.
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
