Pharmacy Technician I- Outpatient Pharmacy

Essential Functions:

• Accepts prescriptions, establishes billing/patient charges, documents patients' allergies correctly, interprets and enters information regarding the outpatient prescription into the computer system.
• Serves as call center agent; answers the telephone and assists caller or forwards to appropriate individual (pharmacist, pharmacy administration, etc.).
• Prepares and packages medications for outpatient use.
• Independently resolves on-line adjudication problems with third party payors.
• Replenishes pharmacy stock area and notifies inventory coordinators of concerns.

Education Requirement:

As required by listed licensure and/or certification requirement.

Licensure Requirement:

Board of Pharmacy Technician License (Registered or Certified) Technician Trainee accepted with expectation of incumbent to become registered or certified within 90 days of hire.

Certifications:

Certification as a pharmacy technician or documented passing score on certification exam prior to start date (CPhT, ExCPT), required.

Skills:

Demonstrated skills in algebra by passing score on math competency administered on site.

Experience:

Six months of previous pharmacy experience, preferred.
