Position Summary: Manage the Inventory/Stockroom, Shipping and Receiving staff/processes to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities, and personnel by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions:
- Manage the daily activities and staff required to receive, ship, store and package materials in accordance with Company policies, procedures and customer specifications. Ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the production areas supervised are maximized.
- Experience Operating and Supervising Routers
- Ensure materials are picked, kitted and delivered in a timely manner to ensure excellent internal and external customer service.
- Create tactical plans that ensure the logistics team delivers the highest quality products to the customer in the shortest possible lead times
- Develop procedures, work instructions and training to ensure safety and quality requirements are maintained.
- Audit and assist in reconciling inventory errors and receiving/shipping discrepancies.
- Manage employees and develop procedures for proper component packaging for shipment.
- Maintain, control and assist in usage or disposal of excess and obsolete inventory.
- Develop employees through OJT, cross-training, and providing education opportunities.
- Ensure accurate inventory and accounting records are maintained at all times.
- Establish and maintain the Cycle Counting Program to audit and continuously improve record accuracy.
- Ensure internal waste streams are properly handled and all disposal and recycling procedures are followed.
- Prepare work schedules and assignments for employees according to production schedule requirements.
- Plan, coordinate, conduct, and/or attend safety meetings, team meetings, production meetings, supervisor meetings, schedule meetings, and engineering meetings as required.
- Conduct formal performance appraisals to assess employee performance and help employees improve their performance.
- Administer corrective disciplinary action; resolve employee complaints through impartial investigation, counseling, or corrective action as needed.
- Ensure that warehouse employees are working safely and are following safety procedures. Conduct all accident investigations involving assigned employees in a timely and thorough manner.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all work areas.
- Ensure and promote a culture of process control and quality excellence.
- Participate in the selection process by interviewing job candidates and/or evaluating temporary employees.
- Support and make recommendations to improve Company policies and procedures.
- Take an active role in continuous improvement.
- Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Manufacturing Department by acting as a liaison between production personnel and other departments to gain information, resolve problems, and enhance relations.
- Understand Shields Mfg. Quality, Safety and Environmental Polices and be able to fully discuss their importance and know how they impact work.
- Monitor and protects the assets of the company and insure that appropriate tooling and equipment is used for each job.
- Adhere to all quality policies and meets company quality goals of on-time delivery of completed parts without compromising quality, safety or equipment life.
Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in technical or business field plus three to five years' experience in manufacturing supervision (warehouse and production related).
- Minimum of two years' supervisory experience.
- Knowledge and experience with the use lean manufacturing techniques.
- Developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Developed computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products and Shop Floor Control systems (E2 experience a plus).
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings and to use inspection tools such as tape measures, scales, levels, micrometers, calipers, etc.
- Ability to operate powered equipment, such as fork lift.
- Ability to use office equipment, such as: PC, photocopier, etc.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit and stoop for extended periods of time.
