This position will provide technical service expertise for desalting technologies, including demulsification, desalter operation, crude oil management removal technologies. The role involves troubleshooting desalting field issues including demulsifier products, chemical injection, management of crude oil feed stocks, and mechanical operations of desalters. Position involves field visits to audit desalting operations, field trial new products, and identify opportunities to optimize system performance. The role requires ability to interact with customers (both internal and external) to discuss technical issues, write reports, and make technical presentations. The role also involves the design and direction of laboratory testing to support desalter troubleshooting

As a Desalting Specialist, you will be required to:

  • Develop and maintain domain expertise in corrosion and corrosion control for downstream chemical processes
  • Design, test, and implement corrosion protection solutions for refineries
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute project plans, including design, installation, and testing of corrosion protection systems
  • Provide technical guidance and support to clients on corrosion protection and management practices via written reports and direct customer interface
  • Stay up-to-date on industry developments and best practices in corrosion and corrosion control
  • Provide technical service expertise for desalting technologies, including crude oil management, demulsification, and contaminant removal technologies.
  • Visit field to audit desalting operations at refineries and identify opportunities to improve and optimize system performance.
  • Conduct laboratory testing for comparison and selection of desalting additives
  • Manage projects to develop new desalting projects and coordinate field trials
  • Troubleshoot desalting field issues including demulsifier products, chemical injection, management of crude oil feed stocks, and mechanical operations of desalters.
  • Interact with customers (both internal and external) to discuss technical issues, answer question, and make technical presentations.
  • Write reports for customer, customer presentations, and participates in teaching classes.
  • Handle special projects as assigned.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree

  • 12+ years of experience with oilfield chemicals

  • 7+ years of experience with demulsification, crude oil management, and desalting.

  • Experience formulating new products for development.

  • Field experience in refineries.

  • Presentation and writing skills.

  • Customer interaction experience.

  • Laboratory experience is a plus.

  • 15-30% Global travel will be required for this role.
