Job Summary

The Touch-Up Operator is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and reworking printed circuit boards (PCBs) to ensure compliance with IPC standards and production specifications. This position requires advanced soldering skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work under a microscope for extended periods. The operator must be experienced with fine-pitch and surface-mount components, capable of identifying and correcting soldering defects, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities




  • Inspect and verify correct part placement, alignment, and orientation under a microscope



  • Perform touch-up and repair of solder joints, bridges, voids, and other soldering defects



  • Identify and correct issues such as misaligned leads, tombstoned or billboarded components, and insufficient solder



  • Perform pre- and post-reflow inspections following IPC standards



  • Read and interpret assembly drawings and work instructions accurately



  • Maintain high-quality workmanship in accordance with IPC-610 and IPC J-STD-001 requirements



  • Utilize computer systems and software applications to document work and track production activities



  • Work collaboratively with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors and quality staff



  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives




Job Requirements




  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in PCB touch-up, rework, or a similar role



  • Above-average soldering skills for fine-pitch and surface-mount components



  • Experience working to IPC-610 and IPC J-STD-001 standards (IPC certification preferred)



  • Ability to work under a microscope for long periods



  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting assembly drawings



  • Strong communication and organizational skills



  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced production environment



  • Basic computer proficiency, including use of Windows-based applications



  • Ability to sit for extended periods and perform detailed, repetitive tasks




Work Schedule




  • Second Shift: 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.



  • Overtime may be required based on production needs

  • Leadership, mentoring, or training experience
