Taft is seeking a Rankings and Marketing Specialist to join our dynamic team of legal professionals.

The Ranking and Marketing Specialist leads the firm's ranking and survey activities, developing strategies and implementing tactics to improve the firm's ranking and survey activities, with a strong emphasis on emerging talent. The specialist plays an active role in the RFP/Pitch process by tracking outcomes and coordinating other aspects. The specialist also assists with other marketing functions as needed.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Rankings

    • Leads the submission process for all ranking activities, including but not limited to: Chambers, Best Lawyers, Benchmark Litigation, Super Lawyers, Mansfield, and rankings specific to a geography, industry, or practice group.
    • Plays an extremely active role in managing Chambers submissions, including the initial setup of the submission documents in Foundation, providing practice information, working with accounting to provide top client listing specific to that submission, and managing the interview schedule, among other duties.
    • Works with firm leadership to proactively develop and implement strategies to grow and enhance firm rankings.
    • Integrates lateral attorneys into the process and updates ranking entities, as well as attorneys joining the firm via merger.
    • Researches and recommends additional rankings in key areas such as specific practice areas and industries.
    • Develops relationships with the researchers and staff at the various ranking organizations to advocate for Taft.
    • Updates the centralized MBD Calendar with submission deadlines and embargo dates for release.
    • Maintains a spreadsheet of all rankings data and produces annual comparison reports.
    • Writes news items for rankings and works with the marketing services team to promote via social media, public relations, and other internal/external communication tools.
    • Adds recognition badges and updates language on attorney website bios to reflect new awards.
    • Conducts educational outreach for attorneys and practice groups regarding the value of rankings and how to increase ranking stature.
    • Acts as a resource to the firm's attorneys and the MBD team for questions about rankings.
    • Drafts firm profiles for all rankings and ensures data is kept up to date following mergers and office openings.
    • Update firmwide documents when major rankings come out, including logos and narratives.
    • Identifies and writes nominations for individual attorney rankings firmwide (i.e. Forty under 40, Crain's Notables).
    • Provides comprehensive rankings and awards training for all new MBD team members, detailing methodology, submission processes, and key deadlines associated with rankings activities.




  • Directories and Surveys

    • Updates the centralized Marketing Calendar with due dates and maintains documentation of previously completed surveys.
    • Researches, drafts, and vets ranking survey and directory submissions. Works with other team members for demographic stats and pro bono info.




  • RFPs/Pitches

    • Manages the RFP/Pitch reports submitted by the business development team on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
    • Ensures data is accurate and timely, based on systematic and monthly follow-up work with the business development team.
    • For wins, work with accounting to ensure the pitch team aligns with the working team, with a strong focus on diverse teams.
    • Works with accounting to track revenue generated from winning RFPs/Pitches and provides quarterly and annual reports to the CMO.
    • As requested, edits/inserts attorney bios, adds rates to RFP submissions, and edits/inserts attorney bios in Pitch materials.




  • Marketing

    • Taft Website:

      • Removes bios and related content for departing attorneys, paralegals, and professional staff on the last day of employment in all Taft markets.
      • Assists as needed with posting job listings for HR.


    • Assists with various marketing projects as assigned and serves as backup when staff members are out of the office.




Competencies:



  • Strong proficiency in Excel (including pivot tables), other MS Office Suite products, and CMS. Experience with Foundation and Intapp DealCloud is a plus.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. An understanding of Associated Press style is preferred.
  • Minimum three to five years of experience in a business and/or professional services environment. Experience in a legal, accounting, consulting, or engineering environment is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.


Taft offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefit package, including medical, dental, vision, life, long term disability, flexible spending, 401K, Paid Time Off, paid holidays, bonus and more. The salary range for this position is $33.84/hour - $48.03/hour. Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted information based on work experience, education, and/or skill level.
