Georgia-Pacific Consumer Manufacturing Group is seeking qualified professionals to consider for a Process Engineer role supporting the Consumer Products Group Operations located in Zachary, LA. The Port Hudson facility uses integrated technology to manufacture tissue and paper towel products in a progressive production environment.

The Process Engineer will be responsible for analyzing, optimizing, and improving manufacturing processes to maximize efficiency, product quality, and safety at the Georgia Pacific Paper Manufacturing Mill. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering and mechanical processes involved in manufacturing and paper production, along with skills in root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and cross-functional teamwork. The Process Engineer will collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, safety, and quality teams to drive operational excellence.

What You Will Do

  • Drive Principle-Based Management (PBM) culture by leading through influence, fostering accountability, and supporting team development
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize process parameters and equipment performance to improve mill productivity and product quality
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) efforts for process issues, identifying key factors and implementing corrective actions
  • Develop and implement process improvements, modifications, and operational standards using data-driven techniques
  • Collaborate with operators, maintenance, and other engineering disciplines to troubleshoot equipment and process problems
  • Support scaling up of new products and process technology enhancements
  • Assist in the design, testing, and commissioning of new process equipment and upgrades
  • Prepare process documentation, reports, and operating procedures to support safe and efficient operations
  • Participate in safety and environmental compliance initiatives, ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory standards
  • Drive continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to reduce waste and increase process reliability
  • Provide technical support and training to operations staff on process changes and best practices

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in process engineering, preferably in pulp and paper manufacturing or related industrial operations
  • Strong understanding of process control, instrumentation, and process simulation tools
  • Proficient in root cause analysis and data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, Excel, SPC)
  • Root cause analysis and continuous improvement experience
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and organizational skills

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering (or a related field)
  • Experience working within Georgia-Pacific or a similar large-scale manufacturing environment
  • Experience with process modeling and simulation software
  • Advanced education or certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or Project Management
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and environmental compliance standards relevant to paper and consumer products
  • Experience working in a unionized manufacturing or industrial environment
