The Event and Reservation Services Manager directs daily operations of events, including monitoring the budget and ensuring that operations run efficiently, economically, and in line with department goals and policy.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
  • May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
  • Establishes and sustains relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Establishes and executes day-to-day operational functions and goals of events to align with existing strategy
  • Monitors the budget and approves expenditures

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with customers to determine event details and requirements, evaluate requests, recommend service plans and pricing, and provide status updates

  • Schedule logistics and secure resources for all aspects of events including space, vendors, and staff and coordinate details and resolve operational issues

  • Monitor and process event related transactions and event data and records

  • Greet customers/guests, assist with registration, answer questions, and refer complex issues to appropriate entities

  • Manage reservation software program

  • Assist with development and implementation of menu item, services, and presentations to meet customer needs and industry standards.

  • Set up, install, adjust, and connect audio, visual, lighting, and computer equipment in various environments for events, or meetings according to established requirements and requests.

  • Supervise, coach, mentor student staff in their various duties.

  • Manage staging and rigging equipment, power cord distribution, assemble sound systems, ensure all features meet safety standards.

  • Identify, propose, and implement new or revised unit operational policies and procedures.

  • Monitor the budget and approve expenditures.

  • Establish and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality, business, business management or related field OR 3 years' experience in a hospitality/event services field.

  • Hospitality or office administration experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service; including active listening, empathy, clear communication, problem-solving, and the ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.

  • Experience managing a mid-scale budget.
