About the University of Illinois Chicago Retzky College of Pharmacy

The UIC Retzky College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking a full time, motivated professional for the position of Clinical Faculty (Open Rank)/Clinical Pharmacist who will be assigned to one of UI Health's Internal Medicine services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to patients on the internal medicine units in the hospital at the UIHealth. The hospital is a 450-bed academic institution located approximately 2 miles west of downtown Chicago. The hospital serves an urban, indigent patient population.

Duties:
The Internal Medicine Clinical Pharmacist is an integral member of the multidisciplinary team in the hospital and clinics. The Clinical Pharmacist's duties include attending daily rounds, medication review and reconciliation, identifying medication-related problems, medication selection and dosing recommendations, TPN management, therapeutic drug monitoring, provision of drug information, patient education and attending rapid response team calls. The candidate will also be responsible for nurse, physician, and pharmacy staff development; coordinating and conducting quality initiative projects and developing collaborative treatment and research protocols.

The academic responsibilities of the clinical faculty member (Clinical Assistant/Clinical Associate/Full Professor) include the provision of didactic lectures and precepting entry-level Doctor of Pharmacy students, PGY1 residents, and PGY2 residents. Scholarly activities, including presentations and publications, are an expectation as well.

Clinical Pharmacist duties include working closely with pharmacy technicians, students, medical staff and patients in providing patient-centered clinical pharmacy services.

Minimum Qualifications
PharmD from an ACPE accredited Doctor of Pharmacy Program.
Completion of PGY1 residency.
Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulations or eligible for such licensure.
Must possess knowledge and skills to qualify for a non-tenured clinical faculty position in the Department of Pharmacy Practice, UIC Retzky College of Pharmacy. Academic rank commensurate with experience.

Preferred Qualifications
PGY2 residency in internal medicine or 2-3 years of equivalent clinical experience as a clinical pharmacist is preferred.
Board certification is recommended
Highly preferred strong clinical knowledge base; analytical and problem solving skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to consistently meet deadlines; demonstrate flexibility and ability to work independently and adapt to a changing work environment; excellent planning, time management and organizational skills.
