Job Summary:

The HSE Coordinator will work collaboratively with other team members to prepare and provide HSE training, conduct audits and initiate HSE recommendations to ensure all team members are working in a safe environment, promoting health and safety for all team members, visitors, and stakeholders. This position reports to the HSE Manager.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Associate's degree in occupational safety and health, Safety Management, Environmental Science or Environmental Engineer.
  • Minimum of two (2) years HSE experience in an industrial, manufacturing or fabrication focused work environment.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Applied understanding of, and experience with, ISO 9001 certification, Intellect operating system, and document control.
  • Applied technical writing skills and experience with document revisions and history management.
  • Applied experience with environmental sampling with a strong background and knowledge in environmental compliance.
  • Applied experience with specialty HSE programs.
  • Understanding of, and experience with, the Workers Compensation process.
  • Applied workplace safety and OSHA regulations knowledge to include experience implementing the following critical safety programs: lockout/tagout, fall protection, confined space, hazard communication, mobile equipment and machine guarding.
  • MSOffice and proprietary computer skills.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work cohesively in a team environment.
  • Bi-lingual preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Foster collaborative culture where all employees follow Hydro HSE programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Immediately alert management of any serious health, safety, or environmental issue and present effective solutions.
  • Maintain working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations applicable to manufacturing operations.
  • Conduct and document Job Hazard Analysis to be used in production environments.
  • Facilitate effective safety committee programs across multiple departments.
  • Observe and coach all team members in hazard recognition, identifying possible safety concerns and areas of improvement.
  • Develop and present company-wide training to employees in accordance with regulatory and Hydro standards.
  • Maintain HSE records, including training, evacuations, and accident/incident records.
  • Acts as a teacher and trainer for all health, safety, and environmental programs to create sustainable change.
  • Manage industrial hygiene programs, including hearing conservation and respiratory protection.
  • Audits facilities for OSHA, fire, environmental, and local safety regulatory compliance to include ergonomics and hazardous material handling.
  • Research industry best practices and training procedures so that the company meets or exceeds compliance regulations.
  • Provide support for all environmental related recordkeeping and administration to include compliance with permits, operating conditions, sampling and regulatory standards.
  • Conducts investigations and analysis of safety related accidents/incidents to determine root cause and documents in internal Incident Management System (IMS) to create change and prevention strategies.
  • Act as Workers Compensation liaison by collecting, managing, and submitting claim information.
  • Other duties as assigned.
