The UM Pharmacy Technician III, under general supervision of the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, is the subject matter expert for the assigned specialty area and performs advanced technical tasks within the pharmacy department at the Health Plan. Demonstrates the ability to competently work in general and specialty areas of pharmacy practice. Works with the UM Pharmacist(s) Specialist and or analyst to review and build authorizations, complete basic reporting and support strategic initiatives under the supervision of the department leader.
Essential Functions:
- Work alongside UM Pharmacist(s) with medical authorizations, including but not limited to building shells, conducting outreach, and sending letters. (45%)
- Will work with Sr. Director, analysts, and specialist in developing/maintaining a 340b network of pharmacies including but not limited to weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual reporting deliverables. Ensuring that contractual obligations are met as directed by department leadership. (45%)
- Support Pharmacy Technician Supervisor and team based on business needs, including but not limited to pharmacy help desk queue, prior authorization queue, and other duties. The percentage of time may fluctuate based on business needs as determined by department leadership. (10%)
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required and
- Post High School Diploma or Certificate Program Completion of a pharmacy technician training program, preferred
Work Experience:
- Four (4) years of pharmacy technician experience in a healthcare or retail pharmacy setting required
- 1-3 years Managed Care or Utilization Management experience required
Licenses:
- CPHT-Certified Pharmacy Technician - PTCB - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board required and
- PHAT-Licensed Pharmacy Technician - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work as a team member
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of basic and advanced pharmacy practices and procedures
- Project management and process improvement skills
- Mathematical computation skills
- Organization and communication skills
- Good typing, keyboarding and proofreading skills
- Ability to work independently within a remote setting
- Knowledge of prescription processing and third-party billing, if applicable
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, preferred
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously based off compliance times or due dates
- Proficient in or willing to become proficient in analytics tools such as Excel and ability to work within Health Plan or PBM Management Systems involving claims and enrollment.
- Collaborative, self-driven, and detail-oriented individual with willingness to perform quality check on own work or request assistance with quality check by analyst.
