Job Announcement

Serves as property specialist in the Logistics Center, and assists with on-the-job training assigned to team members on specific responsibilities and tasks. Leads efforts in the receiving, shipping, handling, distribution, processing, and storage of excess/surplus deliveries (i.e., on-line auction services, e-waste, etc.,). Works directly with senior staff managing in-house surplus inventories, logistics equipment and supplies. Reports any surplus inventory discrepancies and takes action to reconcile records. Adheres to and enforces safety standards set by county and OSHA. Inspects incoming goods for visible damage and other defects; interacts with commercial delivery drivers and customers. Uses inventory systems, property vendor websites, and other applications (including FOCUS, MS Office Suite and GovDeals) to keep accurate and detailed information of surplus property inventory and warehouse inventory. Generates reports and collects data on team productivity such as (scrap metal pick-up, e-recycle efforts, and sustainability KPIs); enters data into division performance monitoring system (FOCUS, Contracted Vendor client portals, excel, etc.) Receives requests for client surplus pickup or delivery. Assists customers with logistics scheduling to include surplus pick-up appointments. Maintains sustainability program metrics and KPIs, and conducts physical inventories, reconciles and reports differences. Interacts with division management to determine operational requirements. Assists with coordinating recycling and scrap metal pick-ups. Operates computer for administrative duties, auction postings, and time reporting. Other duties as assigned.

NOTE: The salary for this position will not exceed the midpoint of the advertised salary range. Fairfax County promotional rules apply.


Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to high school graduation or a G.E.D. issued by a state department of education; and three years of experience procuring or issuing and receiving equipment or performing accounts payable functions.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Must be able to obtain Forklift Safety Training Certificate within six months of hire date

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check and a Pre-employment Medical Evaluation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of and experience with logistics and warehouse practices and procedures. Experience with property and inventory control. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Excel, with the ability to set up and maintain detailed receiving and location records. Experience in a large-scale warehouse operation to include the operation of MHE.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift 50 lbs. without assistance from the ground to chest level and ability to maneuver furniture/items/packages of any weight above 50 lbs., using appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person. Physically able to stand, sit, move, squat, walk, and climb during course of the shift. Able to successfully complete all basic safety and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) training. All duties are performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
