The Senior Director of Software Engineering is responsible for the overall vision and strategy for the development of product Software for Bracco Medical Technologies (BMT). This strategic leadership role is a key member of a Global Research and Product Development organization that will lead and manage all aspects of product software development activities. You lead a software development team that is responsible for technologies that are pivotal to the aggressive growth of the global business. You will lead and develop a global team of software development professional and drive key initiatives that fuel future business growth. You will be fully empowered and accountable for the formulation and execution of tasks required to deliver all product software projects on time, and on budget, with the desired quality. To this end, you will be expected to develop and manage robust development processes and standards, which minimizes time to market while meeting cost and quality expectations of software in the medical device industry.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with members of the Product Development Team to assess, define and drive new product development strategy.
  • Guide and shape the multi-year product roadmap to ensure new products deliver tangible and measurable value to customers.
  • Recruit, hire, develop and manage Product Software Development leaders to effectively accomplish business goals and empower employee success.
  • Lead and provide strategic direction to a highly functional team of professionals responsible for the development of BMT medical device software and integration into products.
  • Develop and leverage partnerships effectively with cross functional teams including Marketing, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory to achieve business results.
  • Communicate BMT's corporate objectives, goals, directives and policies to the Product Software Development team, creating a clear vision and positive, team-oriented environment
  • Identify, champion, and develop innovative new technologies that add value to the BMT products.
  • Collaborate with the product development team to transition and integrate technology from research phase to product development process
  • Ensure that all team resources are aligned and driven to achieve project milestones and corporate initiatives in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Provide technical engineering leadership and mentoring to ensure new product development projects remain on schedule, within budgets, meet end use performance criteria, and fully conform to established design control and related FDA/ISO compliance criteria.
  • Ensure rigorous documentation for all phases of development, including design specifications, verification/validation test plans, and project schedules.
  • Engage and influence the business to select critical strategic vendors. Work closely with (contract) engineering services to promote efficient development and design transfer into production.
  • Create and manage robust project and departmental budgets to support product development activities.
  • Model behaviors for the product development team, which demonstrate the importance of innovative, collaborative, and innovative culture.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

Minimum

  • Bachelor degree in Computer science or Electrical engineering (or equivalent engineering discipline)
  • 10+ years of technical product development experience
  • 7+ years' experience directly managing engineers or highly technical teams
  • 5+ years' experience in the medical device industry or highly regulated industry
  • Demonstrated track record in hiring, developing, and retaining top technical talent.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading, coaching, developing and motivating a technical team that delivers results.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, skillfully assessing and communicating importance and urgency to team members while maintaining composure and clarity.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills that enable effective collaboration, negotiation, and influence across multi-disciplinary teams and organizational levels.
  • Innovative thinker and problem solver; brings a big-picture perspective - the ability to see how all the pieces fit together and contribute to the achievement of broader organizational objectives; strong business acumen and judgment.
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledgeable on regulatory requirements for global product registration.
  • Experience with project and portfolio management systems and processes.
  • Experience with the implementation of Agile product development processes within the medical device industry.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills

Preferred

  • Graduate degree in engineering, scientific, or business discipline
  • Publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and/or the patent record.
  • Technical expertise in diagnostic imaging suite and/or the Catheterization lab.
  • Technical expertise in healthcare informatics.
  • Understanding of Hospital networks and product security standards in the healthcare environment.

Other

  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

Compensation & Total Rewards:

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $250,000.00 - $280,000.00

*Estimated Starting Salary Range is reflective of the range Bracco Medical Technologies reasonably expects to pay for the position. The range provided is based on salary and market data specific to the position.
