AI/ML Subject Matter Expert

***HYBRID POSITION IN NORCO, CA***

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced AI/ML Subject Matter Expert to lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions. This role is responsible for architecting scalable ML pipelines, applying deep technical knowledge of data engineering and MLOps, and guiding the adoption of AI/ML best practices across the program. The SME will collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and program stakeholders to ensure solutions meet mission and business objectives while adhering to security, compliance, and performance standards.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary SME for AI/ML solution design and implementation
• Build, train, test, and deploy machine learning and deep learning models
• Design and manage end-to-end ML pipelines, including data ingestion, feature engineering, and model lifecycle
• Implement MLOps practices for version control, monitoring, and retraining
• Translate mission requirements into AI/ML technical solutions
• Evaluate and recommend AI/ML tools, frameworks, and cloud platforms
• Mentor team members on AI/ML methodologies and emerging technologies
• Deliver technical documentation, reports, and briefing

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field
• 7+ years of experience in AI/ML model development and deployment
• Proficiency with Python and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
• Strong experience with MLOps and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Solid understanding of data engineering (ETL, big data, SQL/NoSQL)
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Must be able to work a hybrid schedule
• If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered
• U.S. Citizenship Required

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in AI/ML, Data Science, or related discipline
• 10+ years of AI/ML experience, ideally in government or defense environments
• Experience with NLP, computer vision, reinforcement learning, or generative AI
• Familiarity with cybersecurity and compliance frameworks (NIST, RMF, FedRAMP)
• Active security clearance (Secret/TS/SCI)
