The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Department Administrator of the Department of Anesthesiology, the Research Manager provides administrative leadership to multiple ongoing and planned research studies. The role includes organizational and pre-award budgetary planning, oversight of data collection, management of regulatory approvals, coordination across multiple performing sites, and supervision of research assistants.

Responsibilities




  • RESEARCH OPERATIONS



    • The Research Manager will be responsible for multiple aspects of grant and contract development and implementation including but not limited to creation and negotiation of budgets with performing sites and key administrative officials, creation of budget justifications and budget reconciliation.
    • In consultation with the PI, the Research Manager will recommend budget revisions and prepare and submit budget requests to funding agencies. Incumbent will assure that expenditures and management of funds are in compliance with University and grant regulations.
    • The Research Manager will facilitate study specific research activities, communications, and meetings, and will supervise, directly or indirectly, research staff and temporary employees.
    • The Research Manager will organize project documentation and records and prepare project reports and updates and is responsible for monitoring the performance of performing sites including assessment of site performance, timeliness of protocol submissions and renewals from study implementation through completion.
    • Negotiates proposal development including allocation of funds to sites, cost recovery of faculty time or transfer of funds for conducting of research projects.
    • Maintains and organizes project documentation and records.
    • Collaborates with study investigators in the preparation of grant applications, abstracts, posters, presentations and manuscripts.


    HUMAN RESOURCES



    • Prepares project reports and updates as required by funding agency.
    • Supervises research staff and temporary employees, including processing hiring paperwork and receiving timesheets.
    • Reviews and monitor accounts and research reports.
    • Contributes to other related divisional research duties, as assigned.
    • Cross covers other related administrative positions and performs other duties as assigned.




Minimum Qualifications



  • Requires bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.
  • Proficiency with basic Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)


Preferred Qualifications



  • Master's Degree in pertinent field (clinical informatics; information management; statistics; biostatistics; epidemiology; public health; health care administration; computer science or similar field).
  • Ability to set priorities and exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and multi-task
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as both a team member and leader
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately directly with department leaders and other senior principal investigators. Must be able to communicate effectively on a technical level with operations personnel in central offices and sponsoring agencies
  • Must be detailed oriented, possess analytical skills, and be highly organized
  • Advanced Excel skills, including familiarity with creation and use of complex pivot tables, lookup functions, and other features for formatting, manipulating, and analyzing data
  • Detailed familiarity with principles of sponsored project financial management, including relevant federal regulations as well as typical institutional policies, procedures, and best practices
