DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for performing skilled carpentry tasks in the Maintenance Trades Section of the Facility Services Department. Your work will involve the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of buildings throughout the facility. This will include removing damaged materials, reading blueprints and drawings, and preparing work areas. Some of your duties will include repairing roofs and doors, installing fixtures, and constructing scaffolding. You can also expect to paint and refinish furniture, apply wallpaper, and cut glass. Work in this position will often require the use of power tools such as saws and belt sanders, as well as hand tools such as hammers and chisels. Another duty will be estimating and requisitioning materials, as well as transporting materials and equipment to the job site. Additionally, you will report any problems or deficiencies in the physical plant or equipment to the immediate supervisor. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work every 12th weekend and be on-call on holidays.
- Overtime is s needed and subject to emergency call-in.
- Travel as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the Building Trades Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Three years of experience in the construction, installation, repair, restoration, or maintenance of structures and articles made from wood, composite, and wood substitute materials; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
