POSITION SPECIFICS

The Strength Trainer plans, evaluates, and implements the strength training and conditioning programs for intercollegiate athletics, team and club sports, and the University community; develops and enforces safety policies for training environments; selects and monitors athletic equipment; serves as an educational resource for classes, camps and clinics; assists in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes; acquires and maintains relevant professional certifications; follows NCAA and conference policies.

  • Coordinate, design, implement, evaluate, and oversee a comprehensive strength and conditioning program including movement quality, injury prevention, strength and fitness evaluation, performance enhancement, and recreation; customize programs based on specific sport or athlete needs to improve and enhance performance
  • Collaborate with athletic trainers, sports medicine, and coaching staff with regards to planning and developing training sessions
  • Adhere to existing University and appropriate external regulatory agency safety policies and procedures; supervise the development of facility safety procedures; ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements related to facility occupancy and utilization, oversee inspections and maintenance of facility
  • Ensure safe and appropriate use of training environments, equipment, or modalities within established guidelines; address any issues with equipment including but not limited to upgrades, replacement and/or repair; supervise the research and purchasing of new equipment
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate assigned full and part-time staff, technical service employees and/or student staff; develop employee manuals and oversee the implementation of training programs and/or internships as appropriate
  • Apply knowledge of evidence-based training techniques and methods, maintain knowledge of emerging research in the field
  • Serve as an expert and education resource for matters related to strength training and conditioning/athletic training to personnel internal or external to the University, at on-campus and off-campus venues, and for correspondence to the University; arrange for class space or teach a class
  • Assist in the on-campus recruitment of prospective student-athletes in accordance with NCAA rules
  • Contributes to the development of an environment for student-athletes that is healthy, safe, equitable, and inclusive
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience Required Certifications: Strength and Conditioning Coach Certification - Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association; National Strength and Conditioning Association

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $56,200.00 - $81,500.00.
