The YMCA of the North Shore is seeking a dedicatedAssistant Lead Site Coachfor ourYNS Sharks Swim Team-a YMCA/USA Swim program just north of Boston. Our team spansfour sitesand includes more than300 swimmersranging from ages 5-18. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality, progressive swim training that builds skills, confidence, and teamwork.

What you'll do:

In this role, you'll guide swimmers through the transition from lessons to pre-team and beyond into higher-level competitive training groups. You'll:




  • Lead structured practices focused on technique, endurance, and race strategies.



  • Manage curriculum development for multiple training levels.



  • Be a member of a coordinated team that organizes and runs swim meets,attends meets and team building events.



  • Partner closely with lead coaches, volunteers, and parents to ensure clear communication and a strong team culture.



  • Support the needs of multiple sites while fostering a positive, inclusive environment.

  • Proven leadership and coaching experience with the ability to progress swimmers through all levels of competitive swimming.



  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.



  • Knowledge and experience with YMCA and USA Swim programs.



  • A genuine passion for mentoring youth and promoting the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Qualifications


  • Competitive Swimming and or Coaching Experience (2-4 years preferred)



  • The ability to engage with young athletes and families



  • Ability to assess swimmers' capabilities and develop training plans to meet the needs of individual swimmers



  • Experience in Early Learning / Elementary Education and the ability to understand child growth, and development preferred



  • USA Swimming or YMCA Swimming certifications preferred (required as part of hiring process/ training)
